MOVIES I HAVE MADE
Recent works.
Everything here was produced, shot and edited by yours truly.
AVERAGE 8
A film I made for Guide Dogs, NSW, about how less than perfect eyesight affects the lives of younger people. The average age of the stars of the show was 8 years. W.C. Fields’ advice was not/is not sound.
OAKDALE LODGE @ 50
While we’re on the subject of disability here’s a film I made about Oakdale Lodge (in Warrane, outside Hobart) in honour of its 50th birthday. It’s quite an institution full of funny and mischievous characters. There are plenty more Lodge movies to come. I shot a massive amount of footage.
Lots of wonderful people getting up to all sorts of mischief.
MOVIES FOR UTAS
I’ve been making movies for UTAS’s School of Architecture and Design, including on-line teaching resources, a few of which follow.
UTAS FURNITURE STUDENTS MAKING STUFF
I spent time pointing a camera at the Furniture students in their final year, making their masterworks.
INTERWEAVE’S REMADE BALL @ ALBERT HALL
Every year Launceston’s Albert Hall and those lucky enough to be inside it witness the spectacle of the Remade Parade strutting its twice-born marvels. Everything on the catwalk (except the models) is made from recycled materials of every description and provenance.
EL CAMINO DE SANTIAGO
Kath and I walked across Spain a couple of years ago. Not only were we fool enough to carry a tent and most of a kitchen, but I schlepped a laptop and a large camera and lenses. Next time I’ll carry a change of pants and two T-shirts. You might insist this film could do with a bit of heavy handed editing. Granted it was cobbled together in a hurry—I did plan to finish it!—but it tells a story and ambles along at it’s own lazy pace. I like it. Maybe we’ll project it behind the band at a show.
MUSIC VIDEOS
Like every other schmuck with a video camera I’ve made a lot of music videos. Here are a couple of the more recent ones.
THE KELPIES’ LAST SHOW
The Kelpies’ long standing bass player died a week before this, their final show. The singer had cancer and died shortly thereafter. This is the only video on this page for which I wasn’t the sole camera man. We filmed and edited the whole show though I’m putting only the first song here. The rest of it’s on Ewe Choob. Obvs.
KATHELLISISM - THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE ME
ME ON A BIKE IN THE ATACAMA DESERT
With an iPhone I filmed myself riding a rusty pushbike through the Valle de la Luna in Chile singing a Billy Joel song. You don’t have to look too closely to see the booger in my nose.
STAY TUNED…
There are plenty more movies to come but they’ll have to wait: I’ve got to get back to the writing and singing…
